No. 14 Mississippi State football got surprised by a feisty Kentucky team on the road, falling to the red-hot Wildcats on the road.

A slow start by both teams ended with the Mississippi State Bulldogs watching helplessly as the Kentucky Wildcats pulled away their second big win of the young 2018 season. A week removed from ending their 31-game losing streak to Florida, Kentucky knocked off the Bulldogs in relatively commanding fashion.

The Wildcats punted on four of their first five possessions, tallying 76 yards of total offense and a missed field goal for their early efforts. A 2-yard Benny Snell touchdown run brought the game level at 7-7 entering halftime. The second half was all Kentucky.

Not only was Mississippi State shut out in the second half, they never threatened. They punted four times and turned the ball over on downs once, quietly conceding a shocking defeat to a team that entered the game as 10-point underdogs.

Here’s what we learned from the Wildcats’ big upset of the Mississippi State Bulldogs in Week 4.
