Texas Football: 3 takeaways from big-time win over TCU in Week 4

2. Shawn Robinson fell victim to an opportunistic Texas secondary
There were stretches where Shawn Robinson looked like a world beater on Saturday afternoon in Austin. He showed off his ability to run the ball, to scramble away from pressure, and to uncork passes downfield. But he also showed his predilection for making a young player’s mistakes, something that could ultimately doom the Horned Frogs in their quest to contend for a Big 12 title in 2018.
Robinson threw two interceptions to the Longhorns secondary. Kavontae Turpin threw another pick on a trick play went awry. In one game, the Longhorns doubled the number of interceptions they had racked up as a team through the first quarter of the season.
Robinson finished the game with 197 passing yards and a touchdown along with the two interceptions on 17-of-29 passing. He did manage to add 57 yards on nine carries, but ultimately he couldn’t put together enough big plays against a secondary that made life difficult all day on Saturday.
With the result, the Texas defensive backfield looks like one of the top groups in the entire country. Their half-dozen interceptions put them among the top 15 teams in the country at nabbing passes from opposing quarterbacks.
