Wake Forest football lined up for field goal but forgot its kicker (Video)
Wake Forest football lined up for a go-ahead field goal against Notre Dame on Saturday, but kicker Nick Sciba was nowhere to be found.
Being a kicker in college football comes with plenty of pressure such as not missing chip-shots, tuning out the crowd and not letting one miss turn into 2-3 in a row. There’s another important factor when it comes to being a kicker: showing up when the field goal unit takes the field.
For Wake Forest kicker Nick Sciba, he forgot to do the latter.
Granted, being a freshman kicker is extra stressful because you’re still fighting for your job, but Sciba has been relatively strong this season.
This is an all-time great mistake and Sciba will likely never let something like this happen. His mistake led to a missed field goal by the Demon Deacons with a chance to take an early lead over Notre Dame on Saturday.
Notre Dame had not yet trailed in a game this season against Michigan, Ball State or Vanderbilt, but the Irish have flirted with danger.
Don’t feel too bad for the freshman kicker, though, as he came in on the next Wake Forest drive to nail a 30-yard field goal to give the Demon Deacons a lead.
Keep an eye on the Wake Forest vs. Notre Dame game as this could be an upset special given the way the Irish have played down to opponents. Who knows, this game could come down to a crucial field goal try from Sciba — maybe he’ll show up then.
