Notre Dame football went into their Week 4 game against Wake Forest with a new starter at quarterback. The Irish came away with a big win.

For Notre Dame football fans, the announcement that Brandon Wimbush was being benched for Ian Book was met with relief. All offseason, Wimbush and the team talked about how much his accuracy improved as a passer, and the Notre Dame offense would be even more dangerous this year.

So far that hasn’t been the case as Wimbush had a 52.2 quarterback rating, with one touchdown and a 55 percent completion rate through three games. Where was the improvement? If Brian Kelly was going to lead the Fighting Irish to the College Football Playoff it would have to be in spite of him not because of him.

So Kelly made the change, and it seems to have paid off in the first game. The offense took care of business against a Wake Forest team that is underrated on defense, and although he hasn’t named a starter for Week 5, it will be a surprise to see Wimbush play another meaningful snap in a Fighting Irish uniform.

As we head into the last week of September what can you assume Notre Dame fans will talk about on Overreaction Monday?

Here’s what you should expect them to hear from them this week.
