Quarterback Indecisiveness

Kelly Bryant started the game under center for the Clemson Tigers. However, after two offensive series, freshman Trevor Lawrence, took over at quarterback. Bryant was back in the game temporarily during the second half, but eventually came back out of the game.  Both players have seen relevant playing time thus far into the season.

Bryant is the veteran who took them to the College Football Playoff last year. Additionally, he was leaned on earlier in the season when Clemson took on Texas A&M in College Station. The Tigers narrowly escaped the game with a win.

Since that game, Bryant has seen fewer snaps, while Trevor Lawrence has been given the majority of the playing time. In Clemson’s Week 4 matchup against Georgia Tech, Lawrence completed 13 of his 18 passing attempts for a total of 176 yards. Additionally, the freshman tossed four touchdowns and a single interception.

Clemson gave up 21 points to the Yellow Jacket’s triple-option offense, but scored 35 points of their own, winning their first conference game of the year. The Tigers has the easiest schedule ahead out of the top 4 projected teams. There strength of schedule, or lack thereof, will keep them from moving up in the rankings unless they start winning by significantly large margins.
