Clemson Football: 5 transfer destinations for Kelly Bryant
By Dana Becker
5. Florida
Coming out of high school, Bryant held 12 offers including that from Clemson which he ultimately decided upon. One of those dozen schools that also showed serious interest was Florida, which has undergone a coaching change since that time.
Would the Gators still be interested? Florida has looked better on offense this year under Dan Mullen with Feleipe Franks having posted decent numbers. But Bryant has proven himself a winner in big games already, something Franks lacks.
Mullen was not one of those interested in Bryant out of high school when he was at Mississippi State, but that might have been because the program appeared set at the position.
Bryant would bring a very similar style that Mullen likes in a dual-threat, as he has shown his playmaking abilities with his legs. Franks, though, is just a redshirt sophomore, so the idea of sitting behind someone – even for just a season – might not play well with him.
Mullen had Nick Fitzgerald last year, a quarterback who threw for almost 1,800 yards and ran for another 984, which sounds very similar to that of Bryant from his junior campaign. Bryant also fits the mold of a Dak Prescott, who played under Mullen.
