LSU Football: 3 bold predictions for Ole Miss trip to Death Valley
By Shelbie Warr
1. If Ole Miss can’t stop the run, it’s in big trouble
LSU senior Nick Brossette is averaging more than 100 yards per game. Sophomore Clyde Edwards-Helaire adds just over 50 yards per game. Just to add insult to injury for the Rebels’ defense, quarterback Joe Murrow can make big time plays with his legs when he isn’t going for the big gain by chunking the ball downfield.
Simply put, this LSU offense is centered on a strong running game — just as it has been season after season before now. They now have a starting quarterback that can also run to add into the mix and as a result this team has one of the best resumes in college football with wins of Auburn and Miami.
On the other side, Ole Miss barely sits inside the top 100 in terms of defense in the NCAA this season. While it is still early, that isn’t where you want to be as an SEC West team. If Ole Miss can’t shut down the LSU running game, it is going to be quite a long one for the red and blue.
