Penn State football has some off-field issues to address, following the Rasheed Walker’s arrest. He was charged with misdemeanor theft.

Penn State football offensive tackle Rasheed Walker was arrested on misdemeanor theft charges after he allegedly ran off with a mountain bike earlier this month. He could be charged with one count of theft by unlawful taking and one count of receiving stolen property.

Walker said that he took the bike because he didn’t feel like walking back to his residence building. According to the Penn State campus paper, Walker allegedly looked around, took the bike–valued at about $150–and rode away. He then left it in the grass in front of his residence building. He was also caught on campus surveillance.

I’m not sure what the Penn State athletic department is going to do if anything. The offense is minor, but he also needs to realize that you can’t just run off with someone else’s property. Maybe a one-game suspension? Ohio State would like the help when they play the Nittany Lions this Saturday. Walker may not have a ton of common sense, but he is a beast on the gridiron.

Walker is undeniably talented. He was the nation’s No. 65 overall prospect in the 2018 recruiting class, according to 247 Sports. This is not the sort of story he wants to be making headlines for.

For now, the team turns their attention towards their game against Ohio State. A Big Ten Title a trip to the College Football Playoff are both potentially on the line, making Walker’s transgressions footnote on what is shaping up to be another action-packed weekend at State College.
