Texas football is looking to notch another Big 12 win after their upset over TCU last week. Can the Longhorns take care of Kansas State?

After a rather inauspicious start to the 2018 season Texas has won three games in a row including upset over in state rival TCU in week 4. Texas has had big wins in back to back game with the aforementioned win over TCU and a win over USC a week earlier.

Sam Ehlinger threw for 255 yards and two touchdowns last week and was finally showing Texas fans what they have been waiting for. Ehlinger will try to keep it going in week 5 against Kansas State and Bill Snyder who is needing a win in the worst way.

Kansas State is looking to improve from last week’s performance against West Virginia. The Wildcats were simply outclassed by a superior West Virginia squad by the tune of 35-6.

Kansas State played two quarterbacks in Skylar Thompson and Alex Delton and neither were particularly productive. Kansas State will need to land on one signal caller to have any chance to upset Texas.

Keys to Victory

Texas has superior talent at every position and they need to prove that early. Texas will need to get Ehlinger in rhythm early both running and passing the ball. Mix in heavy doses of Tre Watson and Keaontay Ingram with Ehlinger in the running game. This should allow the talented receivers to have a big day.

Kansas will need to find their offense and try to do what they do best which is slow down the pace and control the clock. Look for Delton to get more snaps than he did last week as it seems Bill Snyder is more comfortable with his style of play.

Prediction

Do not expect for this game to be close. Texas will be looking to grab momentum heading into next week’s match up with Oklahoma. Texas will try to play fast and jump out to an early lead. Sam Ehlinger will throw two first-half touchdowns and run in one as well and Texas will take a 24-3 lead into the locker room at halftime.

It will be more of the same in the second half. Kansas State will add a late touchdown to make it look closer that it actually is and Texas will roll into Red River Showdown at 4-1.
