Florida State football is searching for its first ACC win of the year but can Willie Taggart lead the Seminoles past Louisville on Saturday?

To call the beginning of the Willie Taggart era in Tallahassee a disappointment would be, at best, an understatement. The Seminoles’ struggles to put away Samford (yes, Samford with an “m”, not Stanford) highlighted what has become a grueling first year under the former Oregon and USF head coach.

Louisville’s 2018 season has been just as painful, but at least the Cardinals could see it coming. Lamar Jackson covered up some gaping holes on the defense last year, and with him serving as the backup to Joe Flacco with the Baltimore Ravens there was nobody left to cover up the deficiencies. The early results have been devastating: 2-2 with 17 combined points scored against Power 5 opponents and a near-upset at the hands of Western Kentucky.

Florida State has been bad, but Louisville has been even worse. These are two programs that could find themselves scrounging for a sixth win and bowl eligibility, making Saturday’s tilt between the two even more important. Can the Seminoles get back to business and steal a win on in Week 5?
