A 3-star prospect from Loganville, GA, Brice was the “other” quarterback behind 5-star Hunter Johnson in Clemson’s 2017 recruiting class. After being beat out by Bryant for the starting job last year, Johnson transferred to Northwestern. He’s currently sitting out the 2018 season in accordance with transfer rules, opening the door for Brice to take his first meaningful snaps as the Tigers’ quarterback.

The 6-foot-2, pro-style passer was the No. 17 recruit at his position and an Elite 11 finalist. Brice picked Clemson over programs like Boston College, Cal, and Colorado State.

After redshirting as a true freshman, he has seen extremely limited action so far. Prior to his emergency insertion during the Syracuse game, he had completed 5-of-8 passes for 37 yards with no touchdown passes and one interception. All of that work came in mop-up duty, a situation with much lower stakes than he found himself in on Saturday.

Against Syracuse, Brice completed 7 of 13 passes for 83 yards, no touchdowns and one interception. He’ll need to take a big step forward in all respects if he’s asked to continue as the starter going forward, a decision that won’t be made until the extent of Lawrence’s injury is known.
