Oklahoma football was able to take care of business on Saturday afternoon against Baylor. What’d we learn from the Sooners’ win?

Kyler Murray woke up late and wasn’t at practice on time for Oklahoma on Friday which led Lincoln Riley to make a decision that made a statement for his team. The star quarterback would not get the start for Oklahoma, instead it would be Austin Kendall.

Though Murray wasn’t in for the first drive, he came in and dominated immediately. He passed for 432 yards and six touchdowns while completing 17-of-21 passes. That’s what you call making the most of your opportunities through the air. He also rushed for 45 yards and another score, looking like a true Heisman contender.

The Sooners were able pull away with a victory despite giving up over 30 yards to the Baylor Bears. Both Charlie Brewer and Denzel Mims had strong games.

3. Kennedy Brooks may be a nice replacement for Rodney Anderson

It’s still early on after the injury to Rodney Anderson, so the Sooners are going to try multiple guys at the running back spot, but after Saturday’s performance, Kennedy Brooks looks like one of the guys to beat.

The freshman running back hadn’t played since the opener, but like in the first game, he took advantage of his minimal carries, averaging over 14 yards per rush.

Brooks ran the ball __ times for __ yards and two touchdowns, leading all Oklahoma rushers by a wide margin. Trey Sermon didn’t have the best game and T.J. Pledger was quiet. The starting job could be Brooks’ to lose moving forward.
