Texas A&M football opened the game against Arkansas with a bang. Jashaun Corbin took the opening kick to the house, putting the Aggies up early.

True freshman Jashaun Corbin put up his best Christian Kirk impression, outrunning the entirety of the Razorback special teams and went back to the house for seven, not even fifteen seconds into the matchup.

His 100-yard kickoff return ties him with two other players for the longest kickoff return in AT&T stadium history. One of those three is Christian Kirk, who made the same trip to the house against the Hogs last year. He’s the first Texas A&M freshman to accomplish the feat since Leeland McElroy in 1984.

Corbin attended Rockledge High School. As a senior, Corbin recorded 2,252 all-purpose yards and 23 touchdowns. While he isn’t a starter for the Aggies because when a team has Trayveon Williams, you are absolutely going to sit in the second or third spot.

However, it is important to really look at this kid. The former four-star recruit is coming into his own as the season continues on. Corbin is going to be a special player for Jimbo Fisher and the Aggies. While he won’t be the star running back in 2018, he will have a big role to play this season. Look for him to move into the second running back spot behind Williams- sorry Kwame Etwi.

As a fan of the Aggies, I was quite excited when Corbin signed with Texas A&M on signing day. Now, everyone else seems to be catching up. While many didn’t pay attention to the running back class with a guy like Trayveon Williams on the roster, they should have. Jashaun Corbin is going to be a big-time playmaker for the Aggies.
