LSU football dominated Ole Miss from the first snap and didn’t let up until the clock hit zero. What did we learn about these two SEC West teams?

The LSU Tigers hosted the Ole Miss Rebels on Saturday night, live from a very rainy Death Valley. If you think that a bit of rain pushed the crowd away and that playing at LSU would be easier than normal, you are very much so wrong. Tiger fans were out in big numbers as their team knocked the Rebels around like they had brought the JV team instead of the varsity.

This game taught us a lot about the Rebels and what they aren’t capable of and a little about where the LSU ceiling should be set as the season begins to push toward the midway point. On that note, let’s talk takeaways y’all.

3. The Ole Miss Rebels have a long way to go.

To say that the Rebels are in rebuilding mode in a season where no matter what they do, post season is not an option would be putting is mildly. They have now been blown out by Alabama and their defense has been embarrassed by the LSU Tigers. This team has some talented players. However, a lot of those players will be on their way out by the end of the season or at the very most the end of next season.

2018 is a rebuilding year for the Rebels. So is 2019 and maybe even 2020. If you are an Ole Miss fan, don’t get too excited anytime soon. They have a great signing class for 2019, if you only have to play offense now. However, until this team learns to play disciplined defense, the Rebels won’t be standing toe to toe with anyone anytime soon.
