Notre Dame is a lock for the playoff

With their toughest test behind them, will Notre Dame lose another game the rest of the season? With no conference championship game for them to slip up in at the end of the season, it will boil down to their November stretch of games.

Let’s have a quick breakdown of the rest of the schedule: Week 6 is a trip to Blacksburg in a matchup against Virginia Tech, who bounced back with a huge win against Duke this weekend. Then a home game against an up and down Pittsburgh team in Week 7. Those are both winnable games without much to worry about.

After a bye in Week 8 they face the Navy triple option, then Week 9 is a road game against a Northwestern team who lost a tough one to Michigan in Week 5.  Week’s 11-13 will decide how far the Fighting Irish can go as they face FSU, a very dangerous offense in Syracuse, and finish with a rivalry game against USC.

Can Notre Dame falter and lose one of these games? The chance is always there because health will be a factor, but the Fighting Irish should be a favorite in each game going forward and end the season undefeated.

Would that be enough to get them into the playoff? It is highly unlikely we will see more than two teams undefeated after conference championships, so expect Notre Dame to grab the number three or four seed.
