1. Oregon is going to be great under Mario Cristobal

I don’t know if it’ll be this year, next year, or even further down the road, but my biggest takeaway from this game and this season thus far is that Oregon is in great hands with Mario Cristobal. From his excellent recruiting to what seems to be excellent motivational skills, he seems like a perfect fit for this team, and for Oregon in general.

All road games are tough, and Oregon took this one perfectly in stride. Despite trailing 10-7 early in the second, the Ducks stayed calm, stuck to the gameplan, and rattled off three touchdowns to end the half, and a fourth to start the second half, putting them up 35-10, and essentially putting the game out of reach.

Those touchdowns also aligned perfectly with what Oregon wants to do. The first was on a 45 yard Travis Dye run, the second was a 36 yard Justin Herbert throw, and the third was a 61 yard fumble return. That’s exactly what Oregon wants. They want to create big plays (check), they want to balance the run and the pass (check), and they want to force turnovers (check). This was Oregon at its best, and they looked unstoppable during that 28-0 run.
