2019 NFL Mock Draft: Projecting the first round after Week 5
It appears that Denver is fairly set at the quarterback position with Case Keenum. Phillip Lindsey and Royce Freeman, at the running back position, are young talents who have shown some promise. But the wide receiver position is where the Broncos are lacking youth. Should the Broncos draft a receiver? Yes. Will they? No.
Denver prides itself on its defensive dominance, and that is exactly why they are going to take someone like Deandre Baker. Baker, a senior out of Georgia, has been a lockdown cornerback and safety. Playing in all 15 games last season, Baker had three interceptions and 44 tackles. This season, Baker already has two interceptions despite opposing quarterbacks avoiding passing the ball towards his side of the field.
After the notable departure of Aqib Talib, the Broncos have a void at the cornerback position. Baker is slightly undersized at 5-foot-11 and 185 pounds. However, there is room to grow for Baker and he will be at the top of Broncos consideration.
