College Football 2018: 5 things we learned from Week 5

Week 5 of the college football season had some teams show out while others just narrowly survived. What did we learn from Saturday’s slate?

It’s hard to believe that the college football season nearing the halfway point. At the same time, however, the action that has transpired over the weeks has been enthralling. Week 5 of the season was no different.

A multitude of developments are starting to take form which may, in fact, have serious implications for the outlook of the rest of the year.

For instance, will Notre Dame be the first independent team to be chosen for the College Football Playoff? Will there be two SEC teams in the playoff like last year? Are there any surprise contenders?

At the same time, there is plenty of football to be played and there could still be teams that make a strong push in the coming weeks.

Some of these questions, perhaps, were explored this week. Here are five things we learned from Week 5 of the college football season.
