Texas A&M Football: 5 overreactions from stressful Southwest Classic

2. Kellen Mond is spreading the ball out and it is helping this team
This game was sloppy to say the least. The entirety of the offense did not play at the same level that they could have. However, no matter what, Kellen Mond has taken this offense to another level simply by doing what quarterbacks haven’t done since Johnny Manziel was in maroon and white- spreading the ball out to more than just one or two guys.
With Jhamon Ausbon now out due to foot surgery, he will have to do that even more so. However, I am convinced that Christian Kirk declaring for the draft was great for this team and maybe having Ausbon sit out for a bit may help as well, in the long run. This team is full of strong receivers, not just Ausbon and it was never just Kirk- however the play call would make you think otherwise.
If Kellen Mond continues to spread the ball out and keep opposing defenses on their heels, this Aggie offense could beat just about anyone. We have already seen Mond and the Aggies stand toe to toe with Clemson and put at least some pressure on Alabama. They have the ability, but the question now is can they execute.
Darrell Dickey has really taken this offense to a new level, getting everyone involved. As a result, we have seen this team get better and better as the season progresses — this game not withstanding. They weren’t bad this week persay, they we’re just lazy.
