Texas A&M Football: 5 overreactions from stressful Southwest Classic
By Shelbie Warr
1. Could the second half collapse be coming already?
Under Kevin Sumlin, this team was consistent with one thing: getting hopes up just to have them stomped on as late October and November came crawling around. This is exactly what this team is hoping to avoid as this season heads into the halfway point, but if they play like they did against Razorbacks, fans should begin to worry — in a big way.
The Aggies are a talented team with an amazing coaching staff. However, that only means so much if the team hasn’t truly bought in to Jimbo Fisher’s philosophy and his coaching style. I think that they have bought into it based on the team’s reaction to the Tyrel Dodson fiasco we discussed earlier.
Is the collapse coming? As an Aggie fan, I have to hope not. However, we will have to wait and see. They have Kentucky, South Carolina, Mississippi State, Ole Miss and LSU still on the schedule. Those games could get you in big trouble if you don’t buy in and fight from the first snap to the last.
Basically, this season is in the hands of the players and how they handle the rest of the year. There is nothing left but what is ahead of them.
