Florida Football: 5 Bold predictions for October
1. Florida upsets LSU
Kentucky was unranked when they beat Florida in Lexington, but Mississippi State was the No. 23 team in the nation when they fell to Florida in Starkville. Those were the best two squads the Gators have faced thus far — neither has put together an early season resume as impressive as the LSU Tigers.
LSU has wins over Miami, Auburn and Ole Miss and enters their Week 6 game against Florida as the No. 5 team in the nation. An upset would vault Florida from their No. 22 ranking entering October into the Top 15, setting up massive game against No. 2 Georgia a few weeks later. Outside of the compelling storyline, Florida has the muscle to make this happen.
Both LSU and Florida have incredibly effective defenses, allowing 15 points per game and 14 points per game, respectively. That sets up the offenses as the potential difference makers in this game.
Joe Burrow has been good, not great in his early starting stint with LSU. Franks, although trouble, has put together more positive film over the course of two seasons. If Franks outduels burrow, Florida beats LSU. And that’s not unthinkable at all.
