4. He had options as a recruit

Don’t believe that Chase Brice was just another three-star quarterback when he was looking for options after high school. For starters, Chace Brice was an Elite 11 finalist in a class that included Tua Tagovailoa, Sam Ehlinger, Jake Fromm, and former Clemson quarterback Hunter Johnson.

Going into his decision, he held offers from other FBS schools such as Boston College, California, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisville, Michigan State, and Miami. He also had no shortage of options in the group of five with Colorado State, South Florida, and Middle Tennessee that he could easily take over a starting role at in 2019 with all three quarterbacks from the aforementioned schools moving on to the next stages in their careers after the conclusion of this season.

He was the 17th ranked pro-style quarterback in the 2017 recruiting class and had had good deep ball accuracy in his later years at high school. He’s also got some athleticism which was shown last Saturday when he took off for 17-yards on the game-winning drive on first down. Dabo Sweeney mentioned that Brice has Moxie and that he’s an unorthodox quarterback like Brett Favre in that he just finds ways to get the job done.

Luckily for Clemson, he chose to go to Clemson and is preventing Hunter Renfrow from being the man that literally has to do it all.
