The reigning national runner-up, Georgia football, has gotten off to a strong start, but will the Bulldogs continue that into October?

If you’re the Georgia Bulldogs, you have to feel good about the direction the team is headed in through one month of action.

The reigning national runner-up is sitting at 5-0 overall with three wins already in conference play. If you think the Bulldogs will be dethroned from the top of the SEC East, you clearly haven’t watched enough of them this season.

If anyone’s going to beat Alabama from the SEC, it’s going to be the Bulldogs — although Kentucky and LSU are making good runs, as is Auburn.

The month of October is crucial to the Bulldogs’ national title hopes. How will they respond?

5. Defense allows less than 250 yards per game

If you’ve been watching Georgia this season, you’d realize that the Bulldogs have one of the best defenses in college football.

That will continue, and then some, in October.

The Bulldogs face just three teams, but two are ranked. Still, they’ll find a way to stymy each foe and hold them to an average of less than 250 yards per game. That’s not saying a team, like LSU, won’t break 250 yards, but the monthly average for the Bulldogs will be under that mark.

Georgia has allowed about 275 yards per game through their first five contests and that number will dip a bit against Vanderbilt, LSU and Florida.
