Georgia Football: 5 bold predictions for October 2018
2. Kirby Smart finally cuts Jake Fromm loose
At what point does Jake Fromm get an opportunity to air it out instead of just “command the offense”, as Kirby Smart likes to say? He has the ability to be a consistent 300-yard passer, but the Bulldogs don’t give him much of an opportunity for those type of numbers.
In fact, through five games, Fromm has passed for over 200 yards just once and he’s attempted more than 20 passes just two times. He’s often hovering between the 15-20 range in terms of attempts and he completes most of them. However, he’s not getting 20-30 like most collegiate quarterbacks, and that’s because Georgia has an impressive backfield.
Why throw the ball 20-30 times if you don’t need to?
Fromm could be splitting some time with Justin Fields in October, according to Smart, but he’s finally going to cut his sophomore gunslinger loose.
Expect a couple of 20-plus attempt games from the sophomore which will, in turn, lead to a 300-yard performance, or two. We will finally get to see what Fromm can do.
