5 The Turnover Chain keeps on coming

Fans of other programs can moan and groan but the Turnover Chain is by far the most in touch and sought-after type of turnover prop in the nation. If you play a friendly game of ‘would you rather’ I assume the answer is to wear a turnover chain rather than a turnover trash can or shoulder a turnover 2×4 like a modern-day Hacksaw Jim Duggan. The Hurricanes have already forced 12 turnovers (six interceptions, six fumble recoveries) while scoring twice on defense in 2018.

The players love the Turnover Chain. They play hard and fast for their moment to wear it. Coach Manny Diaz updated the chain to include Sebastian the Ibis in version 2.0 to give it an updated feel. It’s new, it’s relevant and the media loves it. The Hurricanes have made endless amounts of money on Turnover Chain merch and retired cornerback turned student assistant Malek Young actually takes the chain around in a briefcase.

The Miami defense started slowly against LSU getting pounded by Nick Brossette but have come on strong lately picking up six turnovers alone against the UNC Tar Heels. Heading into turnover prone FSU with their weak offensive line- expect the Hurricanes to flash the turnover bling once again on Oct. 6. UVA and Boston College don’t turn the football over a ton, but Miami has the ability to knock it loose in their quest for the chain.
