SEC football was shaken up a bit after Week 5, at least in the middle of the pack. As we near the midway-point of the season, let’s talk power rankings once again.

More: Looking back at last week’s SEC Power Rankings

Alabama, Georgia and LSU didn’t falter a bit, but of course, no one expected them to. The Kentucky Wildcats are on the up and up, as are the Florida Gators. Meanwhile, Mississippi State and Vanderbilt are in free fall at this point in the season. If anyone was betting on the Bulldogs of Mississippi State to make noise in the West, now may be the time to stop. Bet on the Tide, that may be the only safe one at this point in the year.

Without further ado though, let’s start at the bottom.

I’m sorry Volunteer fans, but because Arkansas actually hung around in their Week 5 matchup- you fall into the bottom spot in the weekly power rankings. Yes, I understand that you played against Georgia who sit at the top of the SEC East and will likely be on the way back to the SEC title game. However, the 38-12 loss wasn’t enough to keep you out of the No. 14 spot.

As you have a bye this week, you can only hope that Arkansas is absolutely murdered by the Tide to the point where they fall back into the bottom of the bottom.

The Razorbacks move up one spot after hanging around with Texas A&M in the Southwest Classic live from AT&T Stadium. It came down to a last-minute interception by the Aggies, something that really shocked the college football world. When Texas A&M scored within the first 15 seconds of the game on a 100-yard kick off return, everyone was sure this would be a blowout- until it wasn’t.

Congratulations Arkansas, you didn’t get murdered and your reward is to move up one spot. You are no longer the bottom of the barrel, though playing Alabama this week may change that in a hurry so don’t get used to it.
