Louisville Football: 3 takeaways from Friday night loss to Georgia Tech
By Zach Bigalke
Louisville football proved incapable of keeping up with visiting Georgia Tech in ACC play. What did we learn about the Cardinals and Yellow Jackets on Friday night?
Louisville came into the ACC showdown against Georgia Tech hoping to get back to .500 in the standings. The Cardinals were riding a two-game losing streak in conference play, and the Yellow Jackets looked like a beatable opponent after also losing three of their first five games.
That proved fallacious, as Louisville was overrun by Paul Johnson’s visiting squad. The Yellow Jackets didn’t need a single punt, as they scored on every single possession to rack up a key 66-31 victory on the road. With the win, Georgia Tech earned their first conference victory of the 2018 season and moved to 3-3 on the year.
It was a disappointment for a small home crowd at Cardinal Stadium. Bobby Petrino’s squad fell to 2-4 and look less and less likely to reach the postseason in their first year after Lamar Jackson moved on to the NFL.
What can we take away from this lopsided result? Let’s dive in and look at three things we learned (or that were confirmed) about these two ACC teams from their Friday night meeting under the lights.
