3. Jawon Pass was not the problem for Louisville against Georgia Tech

Bobby Petrino and the offensive staff elected to bring Jawon Pass out of the game in the final five minutes, but that was more to get experience for freshman Jordan Travis in one of his four redshirt games. It proved costly, as the youngster tossed a pick-six with less than two and a half minutes remaining.

Ultimately, while Louisville lost huge at home, the loss could not be pinned on the quarterback with the big shoes to fill. Jawon Pass has been only so-so through the first month of the season, but the loss to the Yellow Jackets was in no way the fault of the new field general under center.

Pass finished the day with 299 passing yards and two touchdowns on 23-of-35 passing. He did take one sack, but Pass also rushed for a short touchdown to factor on all three of Louisville’s touchdowns. Most importantly, Pass did not turn over the ball once.

It was a tough loss to swallow for the Cardinals offense, who were betrayed by a few fumbles early and the late interception return. Play calling was sometimes suspect. But Jawon Pass did everything he was called upon to do for Louisville. While losses ultimately always fall on the entire team, Pass deserves marginal share for the defeat on the record.
