Miami Football: 3 bold predictions for ‘Canes matchup with Florida State
The Florida State Seminoles are hitting the road to face their Miami football. Here are some bold predictions for the Week 6 rivalry matchup.
My childhood constituted one rule: no matter where we are or what’s happening we’ll make time to watch the Miami Hurricanes beat Florida State. When I was a youth that was a regular happening. I remember watching the 1991 rendition at my home in West Perrine, and the 1992 edition from my grandma’s living room after we lost our house to Hurricane Andrew. When I was a kid Miami just beat FSU, plain and simple.
Then the sanctions against Miami happened and the Hurricanes lost and lost again to the ‘Noles. This rivalry has been one of ebb and flow. Miami went on a winning spree surrounding their 2001 National Championship before FSU took back over surrounding their 2013 title run. Over the years this game has determined which program will have a shot at the national title.
While FSU is down in 2018 and Miami already dropped their opener to LSU- it’s still a major rivalry. This is Willie Taggart’s first FSU-Miami game and Mark Richt‘s first chance at consecutive victories over the Seminoles. The 5-1 ‘Canes are ranked 18th by the S&P+, while FSU is ranked 70th at 3-2. FSU is led by quarterback Deondre Francois while Miami’s offense has been revitalized by redshirt freshman quarterback N’Kosi Perry.
