3 Perry puts his name in Miami-FSU lore

Miami quarterbacks enter into the fans “greatest of all-time” conversation when they have an FSU-Miami moment. It’s like a WrestleMania moment in WWE. It’s that big play where the ‘Canes beat the ‘Noles. Dalvin Cook made a college career of big moments against Miami for the Seminoles. So did Warrick Dunn. For Miami, it’s Ken Dorsey on “the drive” in 2000 or Gino Torretta hanging in and throwing a deep fade to Lamar Thomas in 1992. Steve Walsh hitting Michael Irvin on the sideline in 1987 is another.

N’Kosi Perry, only a redshirt freshman, will need to have a big game for the Hurricanes to beat the Seminoles. In 2017, Malik Rosier struggled and required some late game heroics to secure Miami’s first in over FSU in seven years. In 2018, Perry has taken over the starting quarterback role during the FIU game and hasn’t let go. Perry has thrown for 447 yards and seven touchdowns but the bigger stat is how well the offense is moving the ball on 1st down and how they’re finally converting on 3rd downs.

The FSU defense is really good but they’ll be on the field quite often with how weak their running game and offensive line are. If Miami wants to find success they’ll need Perry to make good decisions and show poise before a rowdy crowd in Hard Rock Stadium. He will have his big moment and throw for 250-plus yards and three touchdowns against the Seminoles.
