3. Mike Weber takes over as the No. 1 back

No backfield in the Big Ten possesses quite Ohio State has. The Buckeyes have two starting-caliber running backs in sophomore JK Dobbins and junior Mike Weber. We’ll see one of those two emerge as the true No. 1 in October.

Believe it or not, but Weber will be the top running back for the Buckeyes after the next three games, rushing for another 300 yards after a 300-yard month of September.

Though Dobbins will still get about as many carries as Weber, he won’t out-perform his backfield mate.

Weber will go off and look like the same back that rushed for 1,000 yards as a freshman just two short years ago. He may be slightly off that 1,000-yard pace, but he’ll make up some ground with another 300-plus yards and 6.0-plus yards per carry.

The Buckeyes need to feed the hot hand and in October, that’s going to be the junior from Detroit. Will he hold onto that No. 1 job in November?
