Oklahoma State Football: 5 bold predictions for October 2018
A quiet month of October for Oklahoma State football can be defined by some big wins if all falls together under head coach Mike Gundy.
The season did not get off to the ideal start for any Oklahoma State football fan through the first five weeks. An extremely disappointing Week 4 upset defeat at the hands of the Texas Tech Red Raiders derailed the momentum that the Cowboys had following the win over the Boise State Broncos the week prior.
This October slate starts with an under the radar matchup with a one-win Iowa State Cyclones squad at home at Boone Pickens Stadium. That comes just one week after Oklahoma State got one of its easier matchups of the season out of the way with a 48-28 victory over the Kansas Jayhawks on the road.
Up to this point, Oklahoma State has wins over the FCS Missouri State Bears, South Alabama Jaguars, Boise State, and Kansas. The only loss so far came against Texas Tech. For the month of October, the slate entails facing the Kansas State Wildcats, No. 19 Texas Longhorns, and Iowa State.
The first bye week of the season for the Pokes comes after facing Kansas State. That could help prepare for the Longhorns for the Homecoming Game in Stillwater. Texas and Iowa State are both played in Stillwater, while Kansas State is played in Manhattan.
With the one loss in Big 12 play already, Oklahoma State cannot afford to slip up any more times if this season has any hope to end in an appearance in the conference title game.
Here’s a look at the five bold predictions for the Oklahoma State Cowboys throughout the month of October.
