TCU football’s first month of play has been rollercoaster-like, but the Horned Frogs have a chance to bounce back in October.

Gary Patterson knew he’d have his work cut out with Kenny Hill gone from the program and a group of young players leading the way. Shawn Robinson took over under center and has led TCU to a 3-2 record through the first month, coming off a thrilling last-minute win over Iowa State.

The Horned Frogs began the season ranked and had an opportunity to take down Ohio State and make a statement to the nation, but they couldn’t keep up with the Buckeyes.

Back in Big 12 action, the Horned Frogs still have an opportunity to make a run at the title with both Oklahoma and Oklahoma State coming to Fort Worth this season, but they still have to travel to Morgantown to face a red-hot West Virginia team.

That’s in November, though. Oklahoma awaits the Horned Frogs on Oct. 20 and it could be the decider for the Horned Frogs’ title hopes.

Can TCU bounce back in the month of October?

5. Frogs nearly match sack total from first month in two less games

You read that correctly, TCU will almost match its sack total from the first five games (13) in two less opportunities.

The defensive line was one of the strong areas of the team through the first five games, getting after opposing quarterbacks for an average of over two sacks per game. That trend will continue in October, but the Horned Frogs will average more than three sacks per game.

Against Texas Tech, the Frogs will finish with four, versus Oklahoma, they’ll have two and against an up-and-down Kansas team, TCU will add six sacks. That makes 12 sacks for the month in just three games, averaging four per contest.
