College GameDay returns to the Lone Star State, setting up shop at the Texas State Fair for Texas vs Oklahoma in the Red River Showdown. Who did Lee Corso pick?

The popular ESPN show College GameDay has traveled to venues all over the nation. Six weeks into the 2018 season the crew has been everywhere from Indiana to Oregon, and several places in between. They’ve yet to travel to an East Coast game, but they have been to the state of Texas, several times.

College GameDay went to College Station, Tx to see Texas A&M host Clemson in Week 2. The week later, they filmed from the campus of TCU during the morning before the Horned Frogs played the Ohio State Buckeyes in AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Tx.

In a battle of rivals, Saturday’s pairing of the Longhorns and Sooners could carry additional weight. The College Football Playoff is a long ways away, but a win for either team would be a resume builder and keep them in the running when the calendar turns to November.

Texas’ lone loss came in non-conference play, falling to Maryland in their opening game. It took a bit of wind out of their sails, but they’re playing the best football at the right time. Oklahoma remains undefeated and, outside of a weird home-scare at the hands of Army, has handled the majority of their opponents with relative ease.

The winner of this contest will take a commanding lead in the Big 12, making it an easy choice for College GameDay’s presence.  Kirk HerbstreitDesmond Howard and guest picker Toby Keith made their Week 6 picks, eventually giving the stage to Corso who made his pick with gusto, selecting Oklahoma with a gun.

Texas and Oklahoma are the highlight of the early games, but several intriguing matchups follow later in the day. No. 5 LSU travels to No. 22 Florida, Texas A&M hosts No. 13 Kentucky and No. 6 Notre Dame caps the slate off with a trip to Blacksburg to play No. 24 Virginia Tech.
