It wasn’t quite the offensive explosion many felt coming, but Georgia football remained unbeaten with a victory over Vanderbilt Saturday.

After falling behind 3-0, the Bulldogs answered with a 75-yard touchdown pass from Jake Fromm to Terry Godwin on the next play. Early in the second, Elijah Holyfield found the end zone, with Fromm adding his second passing score of the first half.

It was all Georgia from there, as the Bulldogs moved to 6-0 with a 41-13 victory. The loss dropped Vanderbilt to 3-3 on the season.

Fromm ended his night early, going 17-for-23 passing for 276 yards with three touchdowns. Godwin finished with 95 yards receiving and three different players had at least four receptions.

Holyfield led three running backs who all reached the 50-yard mark with 64 on just six carries.

It marked the sixth consecutive time that Georgia has scored at least 38 points this year as they head into the gauntlet part of the schedule.

After playing just one ranked team in the first six weeks, the Bulldogs are now staring in the face of games with LSU on the road, Florida at a neutral site, Kentucky on the road and home to Auburn.

By the time Georgia takes on UMass in the middle of November, we’ll know if the Bulldogs are not only contenders to return to the SEC title game, but the College Football Playoff, as well, after finishing as runners-up to Alabama a year ago.

For the Commodores, they will try to regroup against Florida at home before three consecutive road dates at Kentucky, Arkansas and Missouri.

Georgia and Vanderbilt have met 80 times now since the first meeting in 1893, with the Bulldogs holding a 58-20-2 advantage in the series. That stretch makes it he fourth longest football rivalry for both schools.
