LSU football headed to Gainesville, looking to stay perfect on the season. However, it didn’t exactly go as planned as the Gators stole a close victory.

For the second straight season, the Tigers traveled to the Swamp looking for a victory to extend themselves to 6-0 at the halfway point this season. That isn’t exactly how that one went down though as the Tigers struggled to stay on pace with a surging Florida Gators team.

While there are quite a few offensive powerhouses on both teams, this game seemed to be more about defense than anything. To prove that point, the Gators put the game on ice with a Pick Six to spoil a possible game winning drive for the Tigers.

On that note, let’s talk takeaways shall we?

3. Maybe those early season wins for LSU weren’t as big as we thought

The LSU Tigers were one of the hottest teams in town after big time wins over Miami and Auburn. However, at this point, after losing to Florida and watching both of those teams struggle to make things happen since the Tigers beat them, maybe — just maybe — those wins didn’t mean as much as we thought they did.

Miami is struggling with Florida State and has shown that without playing strong defense. Auburn barely dominated Arkansas and then struggled against Southern Miss. Not exactly exciting to hear about the two teams that the national said you beating was a huge deal.

If you think that the season is going to get easier for the Tigers, you are wrong. LSU now has to prepare for Mississippi State, Georgia and Alabama. Good luck with that one Tigers.
