Miami football could ill-afford a loss at home to arch-rival Florida State Saturday, as the Hurricanes mounted a second half rally to post a 28-27 victory.

After falling behind 20-7 at halftime,Miami scored twice in the third quarter and finished the game by posting the final 21 points to improve to 5-1 on the year.

The Seminoles, who appeared to be in control of the contest when they took a 27-7 lead on a 74-yard punt return by D.J. Matthews in the third quarter, fell to 3-3 overall.

It was far from pretty, but freshman N’Kosi Perry showed the flashy skills that have fans of “The U” excited for the quarterback, as the threw three touchdown passes in the final 20-plus minutes of the game. That included a 41-yard score to Brevin Jordan for what became the game-winner when Bubba Baxa successfully kicked through the extra-point.

Perry finished with four touchdowns in all, including two scoring strikes to Lawrence Cager and another to Jeff Thomas. Travis Homer and DeeJay Dallas combined for 31 carries and 101 yards, and Thomas hauled in three passes for 76 yards.

It was also interesting that a series driven by missed field goals over the years was decided by a single-point.

Here are three takeaways from Miami’s come-from-behind victory over rival Florida State Saturday:
