We are three weeks away from the first official rankings by the College Football Playoff Committee. Here is an early look at what we will likely see.

In Week 6 of college football, eight of the top 25 teams lost, causing a large displacements of teams in the new AP Poll. With the losses, a handful of teams were given their first loss of the season, making it easier to project the top 4 teams.

LSU was beginning to make a strong case to be considered for a top 4 spot. However, after a 19-27 loss to No. 22 Florida, the Tigers are no longer in consideration for the time being. Additionally, Oklahoma got their first loss by rival, Texas, in the Red River Showdown.

The Sooners made a strong comeback push late in the game, but Longhorn kicker, Cameron Dicker, made a 40-yard field goal with less than 10 seconds left to go in the game to make the score, 48-45 in favor of Texas.

A Note About UCF

This projection is predicting the very first College Football Playoff Ranking, not the last one. If the season were to end today, the UCF Knights would have the fourth spot.

However, since the first rankings come out about a month and a half before the end of the season, UCF will only be right around sixth or seventh, assuming they remain undefeated.
