3. Ohio State Buckeyes

It seems like every week Ohio State bounces back and forth between No. 3 and No. 2. However, the Buckeyes’ opponents, and how much they win by, truly plays that big of a role when it comes down to the last few spots.

The Buckeyes beat a very good Penn State team, in State College, last week. However, that game could very well have been a loss had Nittany Lions head coach, James Franklin, not made a terrible play call on one of the last plays of the game. With a loss against Penn State, Ohio State would not be on this list.

In Week 6, the Buckeyes hosted the Indiana Hoosiers, but did not beat them by as big of margin as many were expecting. 49-26 is a fine win, but they allowed just one point less to Indiana than they did to Penn State (whose offense is the one of the best in the country). The inconsistency in the Buckeye defense is worrisome when considering how they would fare against teams like Notre Dame or Clemson — let alone Georgia or Alabama.

Furthermore, Ohio State quarterback Dwayne Haskins made headlines by throwing for an impressive six touchdowns. However, what nobody is talking about is the two interceptions Haskins threw. Ohio State will need to clean up these few items before the College Football Playoff.
