LSU football watched an undefeated season come to an end at the Swamp in Week 6. There will be better days ahead for the Tigers.

One of the nation’s most surprising teams in 2018, the LSU Tigers brought a perfect 5-0 record into their third SEC game of the season. The team already had wins over No. 8 Miami and No. 7 Auburn and had climbed all the way to No. 5 in the polls themselves.

After 60 minutes in the Swamp, LSU was undefeated no more and had been knocked outside the top 10. Florida has now won back-to-back games against quality SEC opponents, knocking off Mississippi State before they upset LSU. They’re a quality football team and had the benefit of the home crowd backing them on Saturday. A one-possession loss, in those circumstances, isn’t too concerning. It’s just part of the hazard that comes with playing in the SEC.

The road doesn’t get any easier for LSU in the next few weeks, even though they will benefit from playing in front of their home crowd for the next several weeks. They host No. 2 Georgia in Week 7 and No. 24 Mississippi State in Week 8 before having an off week to prepare for No. 1 Alabama.

LSU has already proven they can handle a challenge. You don’t earn two top-10 wins without being sound to some degree on both sides of the ball. LSU might not be the favorites in all of their next three games, but writing off the results as losses, even against a pair of returning Playoff squads, would be putting the cart way too far in front of the horse.

Yes, the glamour of being undefeated is gone. But LSU is still a quality football team with a dangerous home field advantage. Don’t count the Tigers out just yet.
