Texas A&M football upset a previously undefeated Kentucky on Saturday night. What did we learn about the Aggies? Is this team “for real?”

In a game that stopped my heart quite a few times, Texas A&M was able to knock out then No. 13 Kentucky live from Kyle Field. The game was quite close, taking overtime to figure out. However, thanks to a strong performance from the Aggie defense and a couple shining moments from Trayveon Williams, Texas A&M was able to win the game and now has moved back into the AP Poll ahead of the matchup with South Carolina this week.

Sounds like a perfect climate for overreactions, don’t you think? Let’s get going.

5. Punters are people too and Braden Mann is the man

Texas A&M punter Braden Mann is a two time SEC Special Teams player of the week, earning the honor in back to back weeks as of right now, and man did he earn that title. Why? Let me put into perspective how good this kid is.

Mann averaged 59.6 yards per punt vs. Kentucky. His 82-yard punt early in the game was the longest in FBS in 2018 and third-longest in school history. It was also the longest A&M punt in 74 years. The FBS single-season record for punts over 60 yards is 13 and Mann has 12 this season.

His defense, shown by Otaro Alaka‘s interview on Monday morning, is quite thankful for his ability to pin teams deep in their own territory with each and every punt.

A while back, former A&M punter Drew Kaser– who was just stupidly released from the Chargers, but that is a different story for a different day- established his own personal Heisman campaign. If there was ever another punter who deserved that kind of campaign, it is Braden Mann. This kid is special and is going to make an NFL team very, very happy.
