A former Florida State football icon, Deion Sanders, could be part of a resurgence at the school through his son Shilo, who was recently offered by the Seminoles.

Shilo Sanders, a member of the 2019 class as a cornerback out of Texas, is the son of the one and only Deion Sanders. Shilo recently received an offer to attend Florida State, following in the footsteps of “Prime Time.”

According to ESPN, Shilo is the No. 290 prospect in the 2019 class. He currently plays for Trinity Christian High School in Cedar Hill, Texas. The 6-foot, 178-pounder also holds offers from Georgia, Texas A&M, Oregon and several other schools.

Shilo announced his decision on Twitter:

"“I am extremely grateful and blessed to receive an offer from Florida State University!” he posted on Twitter. “Thank you to my coaching staff and teammates at (Trinity Christian).”"

Part of the downfall of Florida State this season and in recent years has been the defense, which previously produced NFL players on a regular basis. That included Deion Sanders, who won the Jim Thorpe Award in 1988 while playing for the school prior to his Hall of Fame career in the NFL.

And while Deion isn’t directly tied with the Florida State team at the moment, Shilo did say he wasn’t the first to hear of the offer coming his way.

"“He’s an FSU O.G., so he found out first,” Shilo said. “He was talking to Coach (David) Kelly and they got off the phone and he told me I had the offer. He told me, it was just like, ‘You have to work now. You really have to focus on what you’re supposed to do because people are going to be coming after you 100 percent.'”"

For Shilo Sanders, the decision will be one he continues to think about as he concludes his prep career. But as he ha dealt with already, the pressure of being Deion Sanders’ son is one he bares.

"“If I choose to take that route, and follow in my dad’s footsteps, then that’s excellent,” Sanders said. “But, I’m definitely interested in doing my own thing, too, so both could be gratifying. No matter where I go, I’m going to have the same target on my back, so it’s just finding what’s best for me.”"

The current 2019 Florida State recruiting class features some talent coming in to the secondary with Akeem Dent and Brendan Gant. Dent is the eighth-ranked cornerback, with Gant the No. 4-rated safety. Nick Cross, Travis Joy and Renardo Green are also listed as future ‘Noles.
