TCU football, coming off a close call against Iowa State, host the Texas Tech Red Raiders in a Thursday night Big 12 showdown. Let’s get bold, y’all.
On one side, you have a team that can’t seem to play defense well if their life depended on it, a coach on the hot seat and one who is reeling from the loss of Patrick Mahomes to the Kansas City Chiefs. On the other, you have a team that just doesn’t seem to have the same pizzazz so to speak that they used to.
The TCU Horned Frogs were the talk of the Big 12, in addition to Oklahoma of course, due to their recent successes. However, now they sit at 3-2 with blow out level losses to Ohio State and Texas on their schedule. The Red Raiders also sit at 3-2 with a blow out loss to Ole Miss and a close one against West Virginia.
Now, these two teams face off in Fort Worth on a Thursday night in a game that will be critical in the Big 12 race down the stretch. Let’s talk bold predictions ladies and gents.
3. Neither of these teams will really compete for a Big 12 title
Yes, I realize that both of these teams are 1-1 in conference play heading into the weekend and this game seems critical to both in terms of staying around in the conference race. However, looking at the likes of Oklahoma and now Texas, neither team is winning the Big 12 or really coming anywhere close.
That is not shocking for Texas Tech fans I’m sure, as they haven’t competed for one in quite awhile. It is disappointing to many TCU fans who were just getting used to winning again. Sorry, Horned Frogs, this just ain’t your year.
