LSU Football: 5 Reasons the Tigers will Upset Georgia
2. LSU thrives in an underdog role
LSU is used to the underdog role this season, and they relish it. The Bengal Tigers came into the season ranked 25th in the AP Poll, with most prognosticators projecting them to finish fourth or fifth in the Western division.
They were three-point underdogs against Miami in the season opener in Dallas, with most experts siding with the Hurricanes. LSU made an opening statement with an interception of Auburn quarterback Jarrett Stidham on his first pass attempt, and cashed in a touchdown nine plays later to take an early 7-0 lead. From there, LSU fell behind 21-10, but netted a fourth quarter rally thanks to a long touchdown pass from Joe Burrow to Derrick Dillon and then a game-winning field goal as time expired by Cole Tracy.
