Week 6 of the college football season was an exciting one, providing some minor changes to our New Year’s Six bowl projections.
This past Saturday provided us with the most entertaining weekend of college football so far. Seven top 25 teams lost, including three from the top 10. Week 6 had several top 25 matchups, but none were bigger and more exciting than the game between the Oklahoma Sooners and the Texas Longhorns. The Red River Rivalry was a shootout and saw the Longhorns win 48-45, stunning the college football world.
One of the most surprising teams of the 2018 season is the LSU Tigers who, entering Week 6, had big wins against the Miami Hurricanes and Auburn Tigers. But the Tigers suffered their first loss, losing to the Florida Gators.
While this doesn’t hurt LSU all that much, it still was enough to remove them from our projections — for now. But before we get into our updated New Year’s Six projections, here is what is in play in Week 7 that could affect next week’s projections:
- The Penn State Nittany Lions take on the disappointing Michigan State Spartans.
- The Georgia Bulldogs have their toughest match up so far, going up against the LSU Tigers.
- The Washington Huskies and Oregon Ducks go head-to-head in a crucial Pac-12 North match up.
- The Michigan Wolverines look to pick up their biggest win of the year as they play host to the Wisconsin Badgers.
This weekend should be just as exciting as last and could provide clarification in not only conference races, but spots in our New Year’s Six projections.
This week’s projections see’s three teams from both the SEC and Big 12, two from the Big Ten and Pac-12, and one team from the ACC and AAC. Now without further ado, here are our updated New Year’s Six projections.
