Can Texas football stay focused and avoid letdown versus Baylor after their big win over Oklahoma? The Longhorns have a tough test ahead.

Texas is coming off of its biggest win in the Tom Herman era and they are looking to keep it rolling versus Baylor. Texas defeated Big 12 front-runner Oklahoma 48-45 in thrilling fashion in Week 6.

Sam Ehlinger threw for 314 yards and two touchdowns against the Sooners in Week 6 and is looking for similar production when Baylor come to Austin on Saturday.

Baylor is coming off of their fourth win of the season after defeating Kansas State 37-34 in Week 6. Charlie Brewer threw for 296 yards and a touchdown and Jalen Hurd amassed 191 total yards and a touchdown in the win asserting himself as force in the Big 12.

Defensively, Baylor has some work to due to get prepared to a confident Texas team. The Bears gave up 250 yards to Kansas State running back Alex Barnes last week. The Baylor run defense needs to really step up in order to keep the Bears in the game.

Keys to Victory

Texas needs to take advantage of Baylor’s weaknesses on defense. Most recently that has been in the run play giving up chunk plays. Texas needs to give Baylor heavy doses of Keaontay Ingram and Tre Watson.

On defense, Texas needs to pressure Charlie Brewer and not allow him to get comfortable and make throws down field. Against Oklahoma, Brewer threw for 400 yards. Texas should be able to shut down the Baylor run game as they have struggled to establish a ground game consistently so far in 2018.

Baylor will need to do several things to stay in this game. First of all, the Bears will have to do what ever they can to run the ball. Use Brewer to run ball if receivers are covered or pocket collapses. On defense, Baylor will need to play sound gap assignment football and avoid giving up big plays.
