Very few people thought that the Red Raiders could pull this one off, but here we are. What did we learn about TCU football and Texas Tech in this one?

There were a lot of things that this game was supposed to be and most of those things didn’t come true at all. Before I get more into that though, I have to say this- neither of these teams need to be thinking about a Big 12 championship. They simply don’t have enough to make one happen and they need to be more focused on putting together a complete, well-rounded team because right now that wouldn’t be something you could say about TCU or Texas Tech.

That being said, onto the takeaways.

3. Did these teams learn defense just to forget offense?

This is a joke, to a point. Everyone was sure that this one would be another offense shootout between two high powered teams that don’t play the best of defenses. However, that was not the case at all. Texas Tech won this game 17-14. Yeah, I expected Tech by themselves to score more than the 31 points that these two combined for.

They obviously didn’t forget how to play offense. However, I was surprised by the level of defense we saw out of these two teams, especially the Red Raiders. I am pretty sure that in my preview I said that Texas Tech would lose because their defense couldn’t stop a nosebleed. Man did they prove me wrong, keeping Shawn Robinson and the TCU offense off balance all night.
