Utah State didn’t just defeat state rival BYU, they did so in Provo on the Cougars’ home field. And the Aggies didn’t just beat the Cougars, but they crushed their rivals as they more than doubled up the score in a 45-20 rout. And they didn’t just rout BYU, they also jumped up past Boise State into the driver’s seat in the MWC Mountain.

The Aggies forced three turnovers, with a 56-yard interception return for a touchdown by Tipa Galeai and a pair of fumble recoveries. They got four touchdowns from quarterback Jordan Love, while the backfield combined for 223 yards on 42 carries. And while the Utah State defense gave up 322 yards and three touchdowns through the air to the Cougars, they held the hosts to 39 yards on the ground.

As a result, Matt Wells and his team jump up past the Broncos and into the Group of Five Power Rankings this week. They take on UNLV at home this week as they get back to conference play.
