Fresno State kept up with Hawaii and San Diego State in the MWC West race with a 21-3 shutdown of Nevada in Reno in Week 6. The Bulldogs defense picked off Wolf Pack quarterback Cristian Solano three times, making up for the fact that they allowed nearly 50 more yards of offense than the offense provided.

Marcus McMaryion threw for 241 yards and a pair of passing touchdowns while completing 20 of his 28 attempts on the day. But the running game was effectively nonexistent, as Nevada held the Bulldogs to just 30 net rushing yards on 24 carries. Ronnie Rivers led the effort with a dozen yards and a touchdown on his five carries.

With the win, Fresno State vaulted up into the top 10 in the FBS in scoring defense. The Bulldogs host Wyoming in Week 7 as they hope to hold on to their newfound top-five spot in the Group of Five Power Rankings. They end the month with a home game against Hawaii that could potentially decide the division.
