WVU Football looks to remain unbeaten with a win over Iowa State in Week 7. Here’s how the Mountaineers avoid an upset in Ames.

At the midway point of the 2018 season the usual suspects are in the mix for the Big 12 Title. Oklahoma and Texas are both ranked inside the top 11 coming off an epic duel in the Red River Showdown. Even Oklahoma State and Texas Tech have shown flashes of impressive play.

It’s West Virginia, though, that sits atop the standings. The only unbeaten team in the Big 12 will try their best to remain perfect following a road trip to Ames, IA to play the Iowa State Cyclones. Jack Trice is a difficult venue to travel to, but the Mountaineers aren’t going to fall victim to any upset thoughts the Cyclones might be entertaining.

The Mountaineers will be looking for their sixth straight win and their sixth straight game with five or more touchdowns. Quarterback Will Grier has been phenomenal, but the West Virginia defense has helped carry the load, too. The recipe for a victory this go around will be similar to how they’ve made it this far with a few wrinkles specific to this weekend’s game.
